چکیده

The need for scalable supply chain integration methodologies together with new embedded decision models has been increasing as a consequence of the globalization of production and sales, and the advancement of enabling information technologies. In this paper, we review our ongoing research project on scalable supply chain infrastructures (SCIs) and report on the current status of the supply chain test-bed developed within the R. H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland. Also, we present our application integration architecture and the integration methodologies employed in the test-bed. Furthermore, two advanced decision models are described. One is a mixed-integer-programming Available-ToPromise (ATP) model that supports efficient order-promising and resource-allocation decisions. The other is a simulation-based event-handling model that conducts “what-if” scenario analysis. Finally, we summarize an optimization model that supports global production planning and a simulation based study of performance scalability for SCIs.
